Simple Death Improvements Mod 1.21–26.3

MOD

Simple Death Improvements aims to enhance the player death experience in Minecraft with vanilla-friendly tweaks. This mod prevents items dropped on death from despawning, allowing players unlimited time to retrieve them. Additionally, items and experience are condensed into a single drop point at the exact spot of death, rather than scattering. A key feature is the redirection of item drops to the last known safe spot if death occurs in dangerous locations like lava or the Void, preserving all items. Explosions also no longer affect dropped items.

The mod significantly reduces experience loss on death, with a default setting of 20% loss compared to vanilla. Players can configure options to retain specific item types upon death, such as armor, hotbar items, or equipped accessories. These settings are overridden if the 'keep inventory' gamerule is active. The mod is presented as an alternative to more complex gravestone mods, focusing on configurable, non-intrusive improvements.
