This behavior is described as annoying for players accustomed to using the E key to close tabs.
This mod modifies the search bar's behavior so it no longer autofocuses when a tab is opened. Additionally, the search bar will lose its focus if the player clicks outside of it. For the 1.12.2 version of this mod, MixinBooter is a stated requirement.
