FastFurnace optimizes smelting performance by caching recent smelting recipes and eliminating repetitive registry scans across furnaces, blast furnaces, and smokers. It targets a subtle vanilla performance flaw that can severely impact server tick rates in large modpacks.
Instead of searching through hundreds of modded furnace recipes on every game tick, the mod checks the cached recipe first, dramatically decreasing CPU overhead. It applies cleanly to all standard furnaces and modded tile entities using the AbstractFurnaceTileEntity class.
