Despawning Eggs Hatch (Legacy Fabric) Mod 1.16–1.17.1
MODDespawning Eggs Hatch (Legacy Fabric) is a minimalistic and configurable mod. Its purpose is to allow chicken eggs on the ground to hatch into chickens just before they despawn. New chicken spawns are limited to a default of 50 to prevent infinite chicken populations. By default, a chicken will only spawn from an egg if the egg despawns while on top of a hay block, which helps control wild chicken groups in loaded chunks. Items, including eggs, despawn after 6000 ticks (5 minutes).

This mod offers several configurable features. Users can enable or disable "eggOnlyHatchesWhenOnTopOfHayBlock" (default: true) to control whether eggs only hatch on hay blocks. "eggWillHatchChance" (default: 1.0) sets the probability an egg will hatch. "onlyHatchIfLessChickensAroundThan" (default: 50) prevents hatching if too many chickens are nearby, with "radiusEntityLimiterCheck" (default: 32) defining the detection radius. "newHatchlingIsBaby" (default: true) determines if the spawned chicken is a chick. This mod requires the library mod Collective (Fabric) and the Fabric API, and is for Fabric versions 1.16 and 1.17.
