Better Crafting is a modification that alters and introduces several crafting recipes, focusing on balance and practicality. It enables the reuse of slabs by converting them back into blocks and allows for smelting sand and red sand into glass within blast furnaces. The mod also introduces cooked carrots, which are consumed twice as fast as normal carrots. Additionally, it increases the yield of stairs crafted in a crafting table to six, matching the output of a stonecutter. Users can also utilize blackstone and endstone to craft stone tools.

Further features include converting nether wart blocks back into nether warts and blasting netherrack into nether bricks. The mod facilitates smelting raw metal blocks, specifically raw iron, copper, and gold blocks, in a blast furnace. Clay blocks can be smelted into terracotta blocks, and clay balls into bricks, all within a blast furnace. Finally, cobblestone can be smelted into stone, and cobbled deepslate into deepslate, using a blast furnace.
