Better Mount Steering Mod 1.19.2–1.21.1
MODBetter Mount Steering is a mod that enhances the mounted gameplay experience by decoupling the mount camera from the mount's steering in third-person view. This allows the mouse to control the camera independently while WASD steers the mount in the direction the player is looking. It also provides smoother lock-on body turns when using Better Lockon, replacing its default 8-way snap with a trailing effect. The mod eliminates camera flicker upon releasing lock-on and prevents body snap back to mount forward when dismounting while sprinting. When Epic Fight's TPS camera is active, it will back off during mount steering and return to normal upon dismount or when steering stops.

The mod is available for Forge 1.20.1, NeoForge 1.21.1, Fabric 1.20.1, and Fabric 1.21.1. Specific requirements for Fabric versions include Fabric Loader 0.15+ for 1.20.1 and Fabric Loader 0.16+ for 1.21.1, along with Fabric API and Forge Config API Port for both. Forge 1.20.1 requires Forge 47+, and NeoForge 1.21.1 requires NeoForge 21.1+. Optional integrations include Controllable, Better Lockon, Epic Fight, and Shoulder Surfing Reloaded. With Shoulder Surfing Reloaded, it prevents the camera from being dragged by mount steering when decoupled.
